On the occasion of International
Day for the Disabled, our Lady
of Peace Center opened a special
celebration to highlight the
rights of people with
disabilities, which marks the
third day of December.
This celebration was launched at
the same time: in the north in
the city of Mafraq to the
provinces in the north, and
south in the city of Aqaba to
the provinces in the south, and
in Amman to the central
provinces in order to create the
atmosphere of celebration and
national humanitarian
organization of solidarity and
recognition of the right of this
man in the exercise of their
fundamental rights without any
discrimination on the basis of
disability and the right access
to equal opportunities in the
Jordanian society in line with
the approach of a spiritual
calling to love and respect and
respect for pluralism of society
and accept one another according
to reports of Mr. Majdi Dayyat
" head of the Central Committee
of the Center for Our Lady of
Peace in Jordan”, where he
mentioned the need to pay
attention to this category based
on fundamental rights of these
persons and the right to
integrate and the exercise of a
normal life without any
distinction.
In the capital province Dr Amal
Nahhas , the Secretary-General
of the Supreme Council for
Persons with Disabilities,
sponsored the ceremonial of the
central provinces at the center
of Our Lady of Peace in Amman,
where she talked about the
achievements and the national
strategy for persons with
disabilities, and reported that
the road is still long ahead of
us in terms of education,
employment, work , environmental
modification and higher
education. Also the Governor of
Mafraq sponsored the celebration
in the Northern Governorates for
the Jordanian Hashemite Fund in
the city of Mafraq and the
Governor of Aqaba, in the
presence of Bishop Salim Sayegh,
Latin Bishop of South Jordan
sponsored the celebration of
the north at our Lady of Peace
Center.
Directors of social development,
education, and work participated
in these events, and talked
about the need for early
detection of disability and
update national laws which
shall be consistent with
international legislation and
the importance of uniting the
efforts of family, civil society
and governmental institutions to
guide the society to serve the
disabled and the promotion of
their moral dimension and to
provide an appropriate
environment for integration in
schools and universities and
Scientific institutions and the
right to work and educate based
on the Laws of Jordan and the
International Convention for the
rights of persons with
disabilities and what has been
accomplished since the issuance
of the rights of persons with
disabilities Act No. 31 of 2007.
the ceremonial of Amman also
reviewed the experience of Amman
Municipality in providing an
appropriate environment for
people with disabilities and the
environmental modification
carried out by the line with the
environmental requirements. In
Marfaq, the Mayor reviewed the
projects of the municipality in
providing an appropriate
environment for this category
and their future projects in
this area as speakers praised
the significant role by the
Center in the service of this
slide and praised this unique
initiative. Our dedicated
committees also talked about the
programs and activities of the
provincial commissions and they
provided a detailed presentation
on the programs of the Center
which are scattered in the
governorates of Jordan.
Participants recommended the
adoption of the recommendations
of the National Conference of
the Supreme Council for Persons
with Disabilities, held in the
twenty-third of last month and
the recommendations of the
General Conference of the Center
for Our Lady of Peace, which was
held on the sixth of the past
month and the need to stop
duplication of work between the
institutions and
awareness-raising and community
education in schools and
scientific institutes and
equality and equal opportunities
for persons with disabilities
and activation of the Employment
Act and holding training courses
on an ongoing basis and the
provision of specialized clubs
and the provision of
interpreters refer to the
Ministry of Education and the
provision of a comprehensive
database on persons with
disabilities and the services
provided and needed.
Attended and participated in
these meetings a number of
officials in the provinces,
institutions and associations
specific to this category and a
number of Christian clergy and
Muslim world.
