About 97 % of
Jordanian society is Moslems and
3 % are Christians.
The Centre promotes ecumenism
and dialogue with Muslims and
Christians of good will.
The dialogue we intend, does not
require talking, but needs work
to be accomplished.
The idea behind forming
voluntary committees was to
provide a mechanism for
Christian and Muslim citizens to
participate in voluntary
activities inside and outside
the Center.
This Centre also aims at
spreading awareness in regards
to the rights of People with
Disabilities. The committees
have been established in
different areas of the kingdom
and volunteers from both
Christian and Muslim faiths
practice their beliefs through
their work in the local
communities.
Through the work of these
committees, the Center
encourages dialogue between
Christians and Muslims, moving
it a step forward from theory to
implementation and mutual
cooperation. By doing so, the
Center fosters interfaith
collaboration and cooperation,
an issue which certainly has a
positive impact on society at
large.
The Committee is a meeting point
for seekers of human and
national goals. Where people
“especially the youth “could
freely express themselves and
their needs and participate
actively to respond to the needs
of the others including People
with Disabilities.
The Committee acts as the bridge
that links and relates the
citizens (Muslims and
Christians) through providing
chances for people to work
together in achieving the goals
of the center and helping the
individual with special need and
hence weakening and eliminating
barriers between Muslim and
Christian citizens.
The Committee supports dialogue
between Muslims and Christians
through allowing both sides to
meet each other and work
together thus discovering the
“Other”.
The Committee is working towards
creating a new reality and a new
future of “love, joy, peace,
patience.
From this faith and believes, we
have established the committees
(volunteers) of the center
(2001) who in turn have
organized different programs
that support the People with
Disabilities and their rights as
citizens and our duties towards
them in cooperation with the
different governmental
establishments, Schools and
citizens. Programs that have
been performed by the committees
so far include Marches,
exhibitions, seminars, dramas,
field studies and different
awareness programs especially at
schools.
